Granting power of attorney
A power of attorney (sometimes referred to as a POA) is a legal document that allows one person (the principal) to authorise another (the attorney) to act on their behalf. In many cases, when a power of attorney is being granted in favour of someone overseas, you will be asked to have the document notarised, and sometimes legalised (apostilled) for it to be accepted abroad.

What is an apostille?
An apostille is an official certification that authenticates documents for use in foreign countries. An apostille is internationally recognised and simplifies the process of verifying documents across borders, making it easier for individuals and businesses to conduct transactions overseas.

Applying for a Spanish visa
In many cases you will not need a Notary Public to help you with your Spanish visa application. One exception however is if you are required to provide a Declaration of Financial Responsibility, in which a parent or guardian declares in front of a Notary Public that they will cover the costs of their child while they are in Spain.
